Cheering up

First, is it weird to send a much loved blogger a gift when you don't really know them? I know this is not me, but I think sometimes you sort of hear a little voice inside you that tells you to give something. Maybe just best to do and not think so much huh?

I am feeling weird. I had a really good day and made progress on something new that's going on here, but I am feeling sad about grown women who act like sixth graders. I haven't slept much the last two nights, so maybe it's making me maudlin. I love Ravelry, but childish people can ruin even the best things. How can you be part of a group who is way more interested in what other groups are doing than in making their own group awesome and making it grow creatively? Do people seriously spend all this time playing victim instead of doing something on their own? Get with the program people and look what you can do with yourself instead of tearing down others!

Oh well, I love Ravelry and childish mentality will live forever, so I guess it's best to remember that I am oblivious (and give thanks for that).

I was gonna wait to blog about these later because my secret project is interrupting me from starting anything new. These were going to be along as soon as I cast on a new pair of socks to show, but they cheered me up. Last week I mentioned a cute little sock bag designed by CoggieTM. My mom made me TWO of them! You know, just in case I ever have more than one sock on the needle.

I am so worth it.

And what a good cheer up (she brought them last weekend) from my mom!

On The Needles today (and the wheel too)

My allergies have been very uncomfy the last few days and I haven't slept as much as I needed to, so I am not very interesting. Since I'm not interesting, I thought I'd just go ahead and show you what I'm up to.

I'm spinning some Suffolk sock yarn. I now Suffolk isn't normally a very popular spinning fiber, but it makes some really nice hard wearing socks.

It's the sherbet color I talked about a week or so ago.

Here is one finished (plain two by two rib with a fleegle heel) and one on the needles. It's made from panda wool I dyed, but I will not be using this as a base for my sock yarns. I don't like how it takes the dye even though these turned out pretty (i think). If I can't predict how the dye will take, I can't use it right?

There again is my $1 Shipshawana flea market sock bag. Love that thing!

I also finished one fingerless glove yesterday and have one to go

I have about half the yarn tails to weave in (I always stop after I do the index finger and thumb, weave in ends and then finish so I have fewer at the end). Anywho, that's what I have going, but once I finish either a sock or the other glove, I will start the swallowtail. I have been really excited to start it but wanted to get one or both of these done first (I know shut up)

Unrelated Information

Hey I have spinning to show. Guess what color it is!!??

wow, the two people who read this blog are good guessers. It's gray. I have finished spinning a second bobbin of singles and will hopefully ply them today.

I also have the Tiny Toes sock going. I'm doing my first afterthought heel. Almost to the point of putting in the row of waste yarn.

Also, this is seriously something a lot of knitter will probably want to know. At the beginning of this year, my mom let me borrow something for reading in bed while visiting my sister. It's so you can just shut it off and go right to sleep instead of getting up to turn out the light when you're done. I bought myself a pair of them and normally I carry one in my sock bag. She noticed it was not in my sock bag necessities photo. Well I let the kids borrow mine in the car and DIDN'T GET THEM BACK!!!

I found them this morning, and I know what Santa will be leaving in some stockings this Christmas. If you like to knit in the car, get one. You will love it.

It's an LED ear light. It is on a little swivel so you can point it right at your knitting and you won't bother the driver with the light if you're in the car. I let the kids use them to read in the car. Hey, anything to keep them from asking how much longer :S.
