Have I ever mentioned that my mom is an awesome watercolorist? Well she is. Check proof below.

I have a few of her watercolors in my house (Ok more than a few) but this one went to my sister.

I bet you thought I was trying to draw attention away from my lack of knitting, well Bah you are WRONG! Below there's a photo of my first Afterthought heel. Twas knit toe up using a Turkish Cast On. I'll have to reknit the ribbing because it's a little bit loose which I really hate. But aren't those colors gorgeous? It's Tiny Toes by Interlacements.

I can hear you all saying, "Ok fine Bam, woo hoo knitting pictures, but WHERE, oh where is the spinning?" Well last night at Knit Nite, Lori brought her wheel and she was spinning (and plying) two really beautiful batches of superwash that she dyed herself. I didn't bring my wheel because I am having a hard time motivating myself to finish the gray (oh pardon me for a moment while I swallow back down the bit of hurl that came up at the thought) polypay I am STILL spinning. Mind you, it's making a very nice bouncy, navaho plied sock yarn, but it's SO BORING!! Seeing Lori work with all that pretty superwash made me want to get it over with, so I spun awhile. Let's face it, I need the practice.

Oh oh yeah, now when you look at Lori's blog, notice the yarn swift that her husband MADE for her. Yes I said her husband made that pretty thing. I'll let you know when they are ready to go up for sale!

Thanks Easser Bunny (Bawk Bawk)

I guess maybe I'm the only one that remembers that Old Cadbury Egg commercial.

Speaking of Easter bunnies. Look at what the EB (my mom) brought the Chief. It was tucked into the bottom of his basket.

His idea of the new flavored water craze is to pour some bourbon over a couple ice cubes. Thanks Easser Bunny! (I got some very pretty color changing garnet earrings which I'll picture sometime soon)

Now brace yourselves. I watched Oprah this week for two days and she had a special on hoarding. This lady had a house completely full to the brim with stuff. I started to worry about my stash, so I'm selling a portion of it. This is probably somewhere between 25% and 35% of my stash. It's not my favorite thing to sell stash, but really how much can one person knit?

I am also selling a big pile of books.

I've also got a knitting photo. I am STILL working on the Tiny Toes socks. I have frogged twice. Normally I am not a big frogger, I notice problems fairly early (typically) or I fix stuff "on the fly" or whatever, but everything I've tried so far on these socks has just been so very wrong. First I started knitting embossed leaves out of this yarn. Big mistake. You kind of lost some of the beauty of the leaf pattern and some of the beauty of the yarn too so basically I managed to take a gorgeous pattern and an equally gorgeous yarn and rob BOTH of some of their beauty. You can't buy that kind of screw up talent, folks.

Next I had read about the afterthought heel on the Harlot's blog, and some of the lady's in my knitting group were talking about them. I was intrigued, but when I read it on the Harlot, I really didn't understand. So I started asking these ladies some questions and decided to try it myself. I started a toe up sock with a Turkish CO but I didn't knit NEARLY far enough before I put in the waste yarn for the heel. I went all the way to picking up the stitches and then realized, um, this sock was way fricking too small. Hello Frogging My Old Frienddddddddddddd.

This time it's right, and I am working on the ribbing. I have never had a sock take me this long before. Good thing they're going to be very very purty.

Unrelated Information

Hey I have spinning to show. Guess what color it is!!??

wow, the two people who read this blog are good guessers. It's gray. I have finished spinning a second bobbin of singles and will hopefully ply them today.

I also have the Tiny Toes sock going. I'm doing my first afterthought heel. Almost to the point of putting in the row of waste yarn.

Also, this is seriously something a lot of knitter will probably want to know. At the beginning of this year, my mom let me borrow something for reading in bed while visiting my sister. It's so you can just shut it off and go right to sleep instead of getting up to turn out the light when you're done. I bought myself a pair of them and normally I carry one in my sock bag. She noticed it was not in my sock bag necessities photo. Well I let the kids borrow mine in the car and DIDN'T GET THEM BACK!!!

I found them this morning, and I know what Santa will be leaving in some stockings this Christmas. If you like to knit in the car, get one. You will love it.

It's an LED ear light. It is on a little swivel so you can point it right at your knitting and you won't bother the driver with the light if you're in the car. I let the kids use them to read in the car. Hey, anything to keep them from asking how much longer :S.
